As we move into 2023, I felt compelled to reflect on what has passed and to share where we are headed as an organization. The last couple of years have been challenging for many. We’ve experienced loss like we’ve never faced before, an on-set of new requirements, and new faces. With each challenge, I kept finding myself asking the same question, “how can we make it better?” Better for the people we support. Better for the people employed with us. And better for the broader community connected with us.
Values into Action’s current strategic plan has several objectives designed to answer that question. First, we’ve developed a “Year Ahead” schedule of activities for our team. These activities will align with core Support Coordination competencies, including furthering our use of Person-Centered Planning Tools, improving upon our Individualized Service Plans, and increasing our efficiencies. We will focus on team building and peer to peer learning by having “peer huddles.” The huddles will be a place for our Support Coordinators to ask questions, share information, and support one another to work through challenges. We’ve built in days to get together in person because if we’ve learned anything, it’s that working together closely makes a positive impact!
We are also developing a new community series called the VIANJ Lunch Chat. In this series, we will offer resources and support to enhance your current services. Stay tuned for more information on that soon!
We recognize that it’s important for us to not only feel connected, but to be connected to one another. When we work together amazing things happen! I hope you’ll join us over the next year in our goal to get to know one another better, to work together, and to support each other!
We thank those who allow us to support them and continue to put their trust in us. We are elated to start a new year with each of you and are looking forward to a brighter year ahead!
