The next general/presidential election is Tuesday, November 5th 2024…do you have a plan to vote?
The right to vote is one of the most powerful tools we have as citizens of the United States of America. Creating a plan for voting helps ensure that your voice is heard. By planning ahead, you can be sure to meet all deadlines, gather necessary documentation, and vote in the way that works best for you.
Make sure you are registered:
In Pennsylvania, the last day to register to vote in the general election is Monday, October 21, 2024. If you are not registered to vote, you must do so before that due date. If you are already registered to vote, it’s good practice to check your voter registration status.
Research your voting options:
Decide if you’ll vote in person on election day, by mail-in or absentee ballot or in-person early voting. Pennsylvania offers all of these options.
- The last day to request a mail-in or absentee ballot in PA is 10/29/2024. Your local county election office must receive your completed application by 5:00pm on 10/29/2024.
- The deadline to return your completed mail-in or absentee ballot in PA is 8:00pm on 11/05/2024.
Voting in-person on election day:
- Identify your polling location and check if it is accessible to you
- If it’s your first time voting at a polling place, bring your identification with you to the polling location
- Make a transportation plan – how will you get there and what support might you need?
- Determine if you’ll need assistance to vote – who can support you and what support do you need/want?
- Make a plan for communication needs
