At Values Into Action, we take a different approach to the recruitment, interviewing and selection process than most other organizations. We start and end this process with the person using services as the lead. We use matching tools that are designed to help identify what’s most important to the person in their services and those who work with them. This includes learning about the person’s interests—the things that ignite them and make them happiest. We use those matching tools to inform our recruitment efforts, to identify people who have similar interests. And the person using services makes the final decision on who they’d like to partner with in their everyday lives.
Meet Aaron and Ram. Aaron and Ram have been working together for about 8 months. One of the ways they connect with one another is through art, a shared interest of theirs. Art comes in so many forms. Aaron loves Broadway productions, music, making clay figures and perler beads designs. Ram is a creative who participates in photography, graphic artwork, apparel and vlogging.
Together, Aaron and Ram created a vlog for us that highlights both their interest and skills and showcases how important shared interests are in support partnerships. Check out how they connect through perler beads!
