Series Introduction – Money Matters!

At Values into Action, we believe in being open and working together. One important part of our work is how we manage money so we can continue to provide person-centered services. While this work often happens behind the scenes, it affects everyone.

To help make this easier to understand, the Finance & Administration team will soon be offering informational webinars. These sessions are meant to give a clear, simple overview of how our finances work and how different roles across the organization connect to them. You do not need a finance background to attend; these sessions are for everyone. Here’s what you should expect:

Where the Money Comes From

Values Into Action receives most of its funding from public sources. It is important to understand how we’re funded. It helps to explain why we have certain timelines, and reporting requirements.

Understanding Budgets

Budgets help us plan how money is used to support people and programs. They guide spending and help make sure funds are used the right way. Budgets are an important part of keeping our organization strong and sustainable.

Utilization

Utilization looks at how services and funds are actually used over time. This helps us understand patterns, spot issues early, and make informed decisions that support our work.

Reading Reports

Reports provide information about services, spending, and overall financial health. These reports help leadership and teams understand what is happening across the organization and where attention may be needed.

Everyone’s Role in Financial Reports

Strong financial reporting depends on many people, not just the finance team. Accurate documentation, timely approvals, and clear communication all help ensure our reports reflect the real work being done every day.

More information about the upcoming webinars will be shared soon. These sessions are designed to be helpful, clear, and supportive. We hope to strengthen our shared understanding of how Values into Action operates.
